Quien lo goza: a Barranquilla guide that plans your day
A bilingual travel guide to Barranquilla with an interactive planner, built to turn visitors into guests.
- A guide to what to do in Barranquilla, chosen by one person who hosts travelers there.
- An interactive planner filters places so a visitor leaves with a plan, not a list.
- Spanish by default, English for visitors from elsewhere. Local words are never translated, only explained.
Why I built it
I have hosted travelers in Barranquilla for five years, and the same questions came back every time. Where do I eat, what is worth my time, how do I get there. A guide answers them once.
The only revenue is bookings for my own apartment. Places do not pay to appear; I choose every one of them. That keeps the guide honest.
How it works

Pages for static topics, like Carnival or the Gran Malecón, are editable blocks in WordPress. The dynamic parts, the planner and the place cards, live in a custom theme in code.
The site detects the visitor’s country. Spanish speakers get Spanish, everyone else gets English. In English I write “Costeño”, never “Coastal”, and keep dishes like arepa de huevo untranslated with a short explanation.
Plan a day in Barranquilla
Pick what you feel like eating, where you want to be at sunset or how many days you have, and the planner builds a day around it. It works in Spanish and English.

Content I can edit without a developer matters more than a perfect theme. I picked the hybrid path: blocks for pages that rarely change, code for the parts that need logic, and I review the content every two weeks.
